Seductive, fearless, and outrageous, Marina Abramovi? has been redefining performance art for nearly 40 years. Using her body as a medium, and pushing herself beyond her physical and mental limits, Abramovi? creates emotionally provocative work that transgresses boundaries and expands consciousness. She is, quite simply, one of the most compelling artists of our time.
With total access granted by Abramovi? and the Museum of Modern Art, New York, filmmaker Matthew Akers has created a visually luscious and mesmerizing cinematic journey that takes us inside the world of radical performance. Akers brings us close to the curators, collaborators, lovers, and admirers of the artist. The filmmaker also mines Abramovi??s creative process and remarkably grants audiences the coveted experience of sitting across from the artist during the most important show of her career. Marina Abramovi? The Artist Is Present is both an intimate portrait and an experiential encounter with an astonishingly magnetic, endlessly intriguing woman who draws no distinction between life and art.

Koh & the Braun Brothers and Stanley Buchthal stated, "We are looking forward to working with Music Box Films on the theatrical release of the film. They are the perfect home for the film and the filmmakers and will help get the film out to the widest possible audience. We are excited to work with them on the release and marketing campaign."
?
Ed Arentz & William Schopf of Music Box Films stated, ?Marina Abramovi? has been an important art world presence for decades but, as the filmmakers reveal she is a person whose life story and artistic practice lays claim on a wider audience's attention. Marina is a protean force of nature, an ageless beauty, disarmingly down to earth with an uncanny sense of empathy and a presence and innate glamour that any movie star would envy. Viewers - particularly those not familiar with performance art - are in for a major discovery.?
